Family Session Questionnaire

FAMILY SESSION QUESTIONNAIRE

FAMILY. PETIT. LARGE. EXTENDED.

I know.  Filling out questionnaires is not fun in general, but believe or not, it is one of the most important things you can do before a session for your photographer. This handy tool will not only save us, you and me, time since we won’t be to have to email back and forth or get on the phone to gather info. But, it will also help me customize your photo session and create a connection before ever meeting your family. I can’t tell you how much more prepared I will feel by asking you just a few simple questions to get to know you and your family before the session.

Having said that, please take a few minutes to fill out the questions below. -- thank you!

General Questions
About Your Family

PRO TIP

Talk to your kids before about the photoshoot.  Give your kids a head up before the day of the photoshoot about what we’ll be doing and talk to them about how much fun it’s going to be.

Tell them that a friend is going to be taking your family photos and she will be asking them to stand and sit in a few different ways. If your child is old enough, set the expectation of how you would like them to behave during the shoot.

Clothing

PRO TIP

 Coordinate, don't match.

Make sure kids are comfortable in what they are wearing.

Don't forget shoes and accessories are important too, but if your child hates what they are wearing it’s going to show in the photos. That may mean scrapping that adorable hair clip or the sweetest bow tie that just makes the outfit perfect.  Happy kids make better photos than accessories.

Dress in layers, but dress with the weather in mind.  You want to make sure your child isn’t too cold or hot.

Stay away from athletic graphics and fluorescent colors.

Plan ahead. Have all of your outfits picked out before the day of your photoshoot so you are not adding any more stress to your day.

MORE PRO TIPS

Make sure everyone is well are fed and rested.

Offer children a little reward for tolerating the session.

Don't force children to smile.  They will give a real smile if they are happy and having fun.

Stay positive and let kids be kids! Kids will pick up on your mood so try to take some deep breaths,  relax and enjoy the experience. Parents are also supposed to have fun!

Perfection is not part of the session!
